Distance Learning Course Information

Codes Used in Designating Distance Learning Courses in the Course Catalog
I - Internet based courses rely on the Internet for delivery of 50 to 100% of the course content. A typical "I" course will require campus visits for orientation and testing only. Students should be very comfortable navigating the Internet and using common software packages.
W- Web enhanced courses rely on the Internet for delivery of less than 50% the course content and may have some course content/interaction online. Students in these courses meet at least half of the time in traditional, face-to-face settings/classes. This broad course descriptor includes courses that simply use Internet assignments and note postings as well as those courses approaching greater Internet delivery.
G - GSAMS/VIDEO CONFERENCING courses require the use of video conferencing for over half of the course delivery. A typical GSAMS/VIDEO CONFERENCING course will be delivered in a video conferencing classroom where all orientation, course delivery and testing will be conducted. No special knowledge of the delivery medium is required of the student.

To view a schedule of distance learning courses, go to http://ship.armstrong.edu/ and locate "Class Schedules" on the menu located on the left hand side. Mouse over the link and select the semester (i.e., Spring 2007) of interest from the pop-up menu.

The "Class Schedule Search" window will appear.

Select the subject (i.e., ARTS, MATH, PSYC) that you would like to search. To search all subjects, click "Select All Subjects" and all subjects will appear highlighted. Next, select the "Instructional Method" (i.e., Distance Education - GSAMS, Internet, Web Enhanced) that you are interested in. If you leave the default as "All," you will create a list that includes distance learning courses as well as face-to-face courses. Select any other parameters that you would like to base your course search on and click "Class Search" located at the bottom of the screen or hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

A "Class Schedule Listing" will appear that contains all of the courses that fall within the parameters of your search. To conduct a new search, click "New Search" at the bottom of the "Class Schedule Listing."
